The McLaren Artura has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags help prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The 812 doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The Artura’s optional lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane. The 812 doesn’t offer a lane departure warning system.

The Artura offers an optional 360-degree park assist to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The 812 only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

Both the Artura and the 812 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and front and rear parking sensors.

The Artura comes with a full 5-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The 812’s 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty expires 2 years sooner.

The Artura’s corrosion warranty is 7 years longer than the 812’s (10 vs. 3 years).

The Artura can travel with zero emissions for 21 miles. The 812 can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

Regenerative brakes improve the Artura’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The 812 doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

An eight-speed automatic (SMG) is standard on the McLaren Artura, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a seven-speed automatic is available for the 812.

For better maneuverability, the Artura’s turning circle is 1.8 feet tighter than the 812’s (39.3 feet vs. 41.1 feet).

The McLaren Artura may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 200 to 300 pounds less than the Ferrari 812.

The Artura is 6.1 inches shorter than the 812, making the Artura easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Artura’s front power windows open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The 812’s front passenger window doesn’t close automatically.

The Artura’s standard power window controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The 812’s available power window controls are spread out on the center console where they can’t be seen without the driver completely removing his eyes from the road.

In case of a sudden change of weather, the Artura Convertible has a standard remote convertible top that can be raised from a distance to protect the interior of the vehicle from damage. On a hot day the Artura Convertible has a standard remote opening feature, to lower the top from outside. The 812 doesn’t offer a remote top, so the driver will have to run to the car, get in, turn the ignition on and raise the top to prevent the interior from being damaged.

The Artura’s standard Keyless Entry and Lock allow you to unlock the doors from either outside door handle and start the car, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Keyless Start standard on the 812 only offers hands-free access for the ignition, none to unlock the car.

While driving with high beams on, sensitive light sensors available for the Artura detect other vehicles which could be blinded and automatically switch to low beams. The 812 doesn’t offer automatic dimming high beams.

Both the McLaren Artura and Ferrari 812 offer exterior mirrors that can be folded to provide convenience. The Artura offers optional power folding mirrors, which allow for easy, one-touch folding or unfolding at the driver’s discretion. This provides added convenience when maneuvering or parking, as well as when walking past the parked vehicle. In comparison, the 812’s foldable mirrors are manual, requiring the driver to get out and physically fold them once parked and unfold them before getting in.

To keep a safe, consistent following distance, the Artura offers an optional Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, which alters the speed of the vehicle without driver intervention. This allows the driver to use cruise control more safely without constantly having to disengage it when approaching slower traffic. The 812 doesn’t offer an adaptive cruise control.

The Artura’s standard separate stalk mounted cruise control on/off switch is conveniently located with the rest of the cruise controls. The 812’s standard cruise control must be turned on with a hard to find switch on the dashboard.

The McLaren Artura comes in coupe and convertible bodystyles; the Ferrari 812 isn’t available as a coupe.
